We accept a variety of vision and medical insurance plans to help make your care more affordable and accessible. Our team is here to verify your benefits and explain everything clearly before your appointment. We accept many popular plans, including:
The Difference Between Vision & Medical Plans
It’s one of the most common questions we hear from patients: “Will my eye exam be covered under vision or medical insurance?”. The answer depends on why you're coming in.
If you're visiting us for a routine vision check or updating your prescription and you're not experiencing any symptoms like eye pain, flashes, floaters, or blurred vision from a medical condition, your vision insurance will most likely apply. Vision insurance is designed to cover routine, preventative eye care. These benefits typically include:
- Annual comprehensive eye exams (when there are no medical complaints)
- Prescription glasses or contact lenses
- Contact lens fittings
- Eyewear allowances or discounts on frames/lenses
Medical insurance is used when your eye exam involves a medical concern, diagnosis, or treatment. This includes:
- Red or painful eyes
- Flashes of light or sudden floaters
- Blurred vision related to diabetes or high blood pressure
- Monitoring or treatment of glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, or dry eye
- Eye infections or injuries
- Any condition diagnosed or managed as part of a disease or chronic health concern
Even if you're seeing us for a routine eye exam, if we detect a medical issue during your visit, we may bill your medical insurance instead, depending on your benefits.
Out-of-Network? We Can Help
Even if we’re not listed as an in-network provider with your plan, you can still access expert care at Planet Vision Eyecare. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits, which means you may still be eligible for partial reimbursement after your visit. Our team can provide a detailed receipt (called a “superbill”) and help you submit the paperwork if needed. We also welcome:
- Self-pay patients
- Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
- Out-of-pocket payment for services not covered by insurance
If you’ve been putting off care due to insurance limitations, let us help. We’ll walk you through your options and never pressure you into services you don’t need.
Financing and Payment Options
We understand that some services may not be fully covered by insurance. That’s why we offer flexible payment options to help make your care more manageable, without compromising quality. We accept the following forms of payment:
- Major credit and debit cards
- Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
- Contactless payment options (Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.)
For specialty services like Neurolens®, scleral lenses, or myopia control, we’re happy to discuss customized payment plans or phased treatment approaches based on your budget.
Financing with CareCredit
We accept CareCredit® to help make your eye care and eyewear more affordable. It works like a health-focused credit card, allowing you to pay for out-of-pocket expenses through monthly payments. Many plans offer zero-interest financing if paid within the promotional period. Applying is quick, confidential, and won’t affect your credit score. Ask our team how CareCredit can help make your vision care more accessible.
